About the Temple

A refuge kept simple, so the mind can settle

Our temple was founded in 1978 by a small circle of monks and lay practitioners who wanted a place where the teachings could be lived rather than only studied. What began as a single wooden meditation hall under a bodhi tree is now a quiet campus of shrine rooms, walking paths and guest quarters, still tended largely by hand.

Daily life here follows an unhurried rhythm: chanting before dawn, silent breakfast, periods of sitting and walking practice, and an evening dhamma talk open to everyone. Visitors of any faith or none are welcome — there is no fee to attend, and the temple is sustained entirely by dana, the freely given generosity of those who have practiced with us.
